First Aid at Work

Course Overview

This course is designed to equip learners with the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence to respond effectively to a wide range of workplace first aid situations. This course meets the requirements set out by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for workplace first aiders. It combines theory with hands-on practical training to ensure learners are fully prepared to manage real-life emergencies.

Course Content

The course covers:

• The role and responsibilities of a First Aider
• Assessing an emergency situation
• Managing an unresponsive casualty
• CPR and defibrillation (AED use)
• Recovery position
• Secondary survey
• Risks of infection
• Choking
• Seizures
• Shock
• Wounds and bleeding
• Minor injuries (cuts, grazes, burns, splinters)
• Fractures, dislocations and sprains
• Head, spinal and chest injuries
• Asthma
• Anaphylaxis
• Diabetes
• Heart attack and stroke
• Poisoning

Who should attend

• Employees at all levels and across all sectors
• Employees nominated to become a workplace First Aider

Certification

· Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work Certificate (This qualification is valid for a period of 3 years. The delegate must retake the qualification before the certificate expiry date to remain qualified).
