Course Overview
The SITS (Scaffold Inspection Training Scheme) course is aimed at delegates responsible for carrying out statutory scaffold
inspections in accordance with the Work at Height Regulations 2005 and for Scaffolders wishing to expand their knowledge of scaffold inspection. The course will cover basic scaffolding structures and the fundamental requirements for safe and legally compliant scaffolding.

- European Standards (BS EN 12811:2003)

- Working at Height Regulations 2005
- Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
- Scaffold components/materials
- Scaffold terminology
- Means of access and egress
- Gin wheels and ropes
- Scaffold foundations
- Scaffold ties
- Basic scaffold – construction regulations and recommendations
- Working platforms
- Basic independent tied and putlog scaffolds
- TG20 compliant scaffolds (e.g. bridging with beams, protection fans, freestanding towers, lift shaft towers, ladder access
towers, birdcages, loading bays and chimney stack scaffolds)
Certification
- On successful completion of the course candidates will receive a CISRS certificate. The certificate will be sent directly to the delegate or their sponsor company
- Please Note: NETA will apply for the relevant card on successful completion of the CISRS Basic Inspection using the delegates Heath, Safety and Environment Test or recognised exemption through the CWA system
- The course provides the candidate with the necessary knowledge to inspect basic structures. It is the employer’s responsibility to demonstrate that the candidate has subsequently gained the relevant practical experience
Course information
- By booking in for this course you are confirming that you meet the eligibility criteria for the CISRS SITS Basic
course. NETA may seek confirmation of eligibility. Should it be found that your delegate is not eligible/does not meet the
criteria for the CISRS SITS Basic Course, you accept that they may be asked to leave the course without any recourse to a refund of the costs you have incurred by placing this booking. Should ineligibility come to light after completion of the course, you accept that your delegate will be deemed to have failed the course and that any CISRS SITS Basic card that
may be issued will be cancelled
- Prior to the issue or renewal of CISRS cards it will be necessary to pass the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test (H, S & E Test). For the purposes of card applications, the H, S & E test will remain valid for a period of 2 years only.
If a further card application is made outside of this period, the applicant would be required to complete a further test.
CISRS do accept some other industry recognised Health and Safety qualifications as an exemption to the H, S & E test
- Any physical impairment or literacy issues should be discussed during the booking stage to ensure we can best accommodate needs
- Equipment:
Delegates must wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) during the practical aspects of the
course. Delegates will be required to provide:
- Hard Hat
- Safety Boots
- Gloves
- High visibility vest or overalls (optional)
- Spirit Level
- Tape Measure
