Course Overview

The aim of the course is to provide candidates with the knowledge and information required to identify suitable means of safe access. This will include the safe and correct use of ladders and stepladders based upon an evaluation of the

work to be done, theduration of the task, the working environment, its constraints and the capability of the person carrying out the task.

  • Structural failure through over balancing and reaching
  • Climbing while carrying loads
  • Slippery footing, wrong footwear
  • Entrapment by moving parts
  • Injury in transit
  • The dangers of electricity, hydraulic, air, gas and steam pipes
  • Unauthorised usage
  • Safe erection and use
