Well done to our award-winning students at NETA who brought home a sweep of titles from The Welding Institute Teesside branch awards.

ECITB Welding and Fabrication Scholarship learners Charlotte and John were both named winners along with former NETA learner Aaron, now an apprentice with Wilton Engineering.

Charlotte was named Best Practical Welding Student, sponsored by PJD Engineering.

John took the title for Best City and Guilds Welding Student, sponsored by ACTTnow.

And Aaron won Apprentice Welder of 2023, sponsored by TUV UK.

Chris Blanchard, NETA’s engineering programme area lead, said: “Charlotte has excelled in the practical side of welding skills and has shown industry standards in the test process.

“John’s attitude and attendance has been outstanding since he started at NETA.”

With Aaron’s continued success, following on from his win at the national ECI Training and Development Awards last year, named ECITB Scholar of the Year, Chris added: “It just goes to show that NETA is developing the welding skills for the future of Teesside and in doing so helping to bridge the skills gaps.

“For our students to be recognised at such an early stage in their career in welding is a fantastic achievement.”
