Taylor describes being offered an apprenticeship at Sembcorp Energy UK as “one of the best things to have happened” to him in the last few years.

The offer to become an operations apprentice at the Wilton International site, comes in his second year studying engineering at NETA Training.

“I really wanted an apprenticeship,” he said, “but I had started to think that it wasn’t going to happen.”

But, the 17-year-old from Middlesbrough didn’t need to worry, as after securing his first interview, the Instrumentation student received an offer.

Due to start work next month, the apprenticeship could be a stepping stone to a bright future.

“To hear about the progression opportunities is perfect,” said Taylor. “That is just what you want to hear.”

The former Trinity Catholic College student said: “Now I am looking forward to working on site and getting that experience.”
