AIM
To give an introduction to small bore tubing and twin ferrule fittings, bending, installation, testing and disassembly of systems.

Pre-Requisite
No previous knowledge required.

Course Duration
2 days.

Training Aids
Lecture notes, audio visual presentation, practical examples, test pieces and specialist tools.

Assessment
1 theory and 5 practical assessments.

Certification
On successful completion of this course candidates will receive an ECITB certificate of achievement for Stage 1 (please refer to the back page for details of the stages).

COURSE OBJECTIVES


At the conclusion of this course the delegate will be able to:

    • Understand HASAWA and relevant regulations

    • Understand the different types of diagrams

    • Understand the different tube types – handling, care and safety

    • Understand mechanical grip fittings – types and selection

    • Be able to make off various MGF’s to correct standard

    • Be able to mark off, cut and bend tube correctly

    • Have an understanding of how to run / support tube on plant

    • Introduction to the course

    • HASAWA and relevant regulations

    • Piping and instrument design

    • Working safely

    • Standards and procedures

    • Introduction to tube care and cutting

    • Twin ferrule mechanical grip fittings – manufactures types and making off

    • Tubing – types, bending and installing

    • Thread identification – common threads BSPP, BSPT, NPT and JIC

    •  Assessments


This is an ECITB accredited course. Working in conjunction with Step Change in Safety, ECITB have produced a model to promote to industry which sets out the processes and procedures that must be followed for Small Bore Tubing. The training delivered is set against the ECITB Technical Training Standard SBT 01.

The model has 3 stages:

Stage 1
Small Bore Tube Training (In Centre Training).

Stage 2
Work Place Practice (Consolidation period of 3 to 12 months to complete Work Based Task Assignment)

Stage 3 – Technical Tests (formal assessment of knowledge, skills and ability).

Completion of all stages will generate an ECITB certificate of achievement.
