APPOINTED PERSON MANAGEMENT OF SAFE LIFTING OPERATIONS AND THE REQUIREMENTS OF BS7121 PART 3

AIM
To provide uniformity of training to a recognised standard and to provide staff with the knowledge and skills needed to carry out the duties of the Appointed Person as defined in BS7121 Part 1 and BS7121 Part 3.

Pre-Requisite
Candidates must have experience in moving and positioning engineering loads.

Course Duration
3 days.

Maximum Number
6 persons.

Training Aids
Lecture notes, audio-visual presentation, demonstration and practical participation.

Assessment
Practical and paper based assessments.

Certification
On successful completion of the course candidates will receive a NETA certificate.

  • How to compile scale drawings of the load, side elevation and plan view of the selected crane

  • An understanding of the management and supervision for safe lifting operations
  • How to complete a method statement and sequence of operations of lifting operations
  • A review of slinging techniques and how angles influence this
  • How to work out the percentage of crane capacity used
  • An understanding of man riding duties
  • An understanding of dismantling duties
  • A understanding of positioning of the crane including ground loadings, proximity hazards, erection and wind conditions
