Pipework (ICPN:1)

To provide operatives with the knowledge and skills to safely carry the first fixing of commercial installations pipework.

Pre-Requisite
Candidates must hold a current certificate of competence in Core Commercial Gas Safety (COCN:1) before they can undertake this assessment.

Course Duration
1 day (½ day training and ½ day assessment).

Maximum Number
8 persons

Training Aids
Lecture notes, audio visual presentation and a range of domestic gas appliances and models.

Assessment
The learner will be assessed by a written and practical test in line with ACS scheme requirements.

Certification
On successful completion of the course candidates will receive ICPN:1 First Fix of Commercial Pipework Installation qualification.

  • Installation of flanged pipework
  • Installation of screwed pipework
  • Use of compression fitting
  • Use of capillary fittings
  • Connection of polyethylene and steel pipework
  • Connection of bellows type expansion joints

Note: Polyethylene fusion jointing techniques are not covered by this assessment
