All our courses have minimum requirements for literacy and numeracy and pre course assessments may be undertaken to ensure that candidates meet the pre-requisites.
Support is available for candidates who may require help before undertaking the course. The support ranges from help for dyslexic learners, basic skills problems or updating mathematical skills, which may form part of the course. All enquiries will be dealt with sensitively and in confidence.

Advanced Rigging Skills Course

Aim
The aim of this course is designed to be final course and test for trainees who have had at least one years experience of rigging/erecting work on site after attending a course of Basic Rigging instruction.

Pre Requisite Site experience plus attendance on the Basic Rigging Course.
Target Audience
Optimum Number: The optimum number of trainees for a course of this type is six, although slight adjustments to this number can be accommodated.
Course Duration: The course will be of five days duration and will be held in NETA's Training Centre or on Client’s premises.
Training Aids Use will be made of handouts, audio visual presentation and specific items of rigging equipment.
Assessment The trainee will be assessed by a written test and practical exercises

Basic Rigging Skills Course

Pre Requisite
Target Audience This course is intended for personnel who will be required to act on the instructions of an Appointed Person in order to supervise lifting operations. Suitable persons should, have experience and technical knowledge of cranes and lifting but may or may not have had any formal training.
Optimum Number: The optimum number of delegates on this course will not exceed 6
Course Duration: Duration of the course will be 2 days
Training Aids Use will be made of lecture notes, audio visual presentation, demonstration and practical participation
Assessment Achievement and measurement of delegates will be by a series of written tests.

Course Objectives At the conclusion of this course the delegate will be capable of correctly and safely:

- Selecting and using wire rope slings
- Using 'Safe Working Load' Charts

- Calculating the weights and centres of gravity of loads and taking these factors into account of slinging and moving same
- They will also have a working knowledge of all relevant current legislation relating to lifting and slinging and of general site and workshop safety standards.
