Support and Additional Information

All our courses have minimum requirements for literacy and numeracy and pre course assessments may be undertaken to ensure that candidates meet the pre-requisites.

Support is available for candidates who may require help before undertaking the course. The support ranges from help for dyslexic learners, basic skills problems or updating mathematical skills, which may form part of the course. All enquiries will be dealt with sensitively and in confidence.

Aim

To ensure that Directors and Senior Managers of small and medium sized enterprises understand the legislation governing Health and Safety in the UK and are fulfilling their responsibilities within their companies.

Pre Requisite

Candidates shall be Directors or Managers with an individual or collective responsibility for Health and Safety of their employees.

A basic understanding of Health and Safety is required

Target Audience

Optimum Number: The course is designed for up to 8 delegates

Course Duration: The course is of 1 – day duration

The course shall involve the use of Powerpoint, video, flip charts, handouts and case studies in a lecture room environment

On successful completion of the course delegates will be able:

  • To explain current major UK legislation on Health and Safety
  • Review roles and responsibilities of Directors and Senior Managers and help them to understand their liabilities.
  • Promote leadership and ownership of health and safety issues
  • Explain the HSE’s guidance document upon responsibilities
  • Understand HSE enforcement policy
  • Explain the HSE HSG 65 model for safety management systems and good practice
  • Encourage ownership of good Health and Safety Practice as a business aim
  • Investigate the potential developments of corporate manslaughter and killing
  • Promote strategies for good corporate governance of Health and Safety

Office Safety Course

The aim of this course is to make candidates aware of the health hazards associated with an office environment, the current legislation covering office work and safety management techniques.

Pre Requisite

None

Target Audience

Optimum Number: The optimum number on this course will be between six and ten persons

Course Duration: The course will be one day duration

Use will be made of lecture notes and audio visual presentation

Assessment

Candidates will be assessed by a practical and written test

Team leader/ Supervisor Course

Pre Requisite

Delegates should be currently in a supervisory or managerial position or developing into this.

Course Duration: This course will be of 1-day duration for Team leaders
For a more in depth supervisors course the duration will be of 3 days
